Use my location
Your location is used only on this phone, to sort the list and centre the map. It is never sent to CyBus or anyone else.
Saved stops
Saved stops, the stops you opened recently and when (so the app can offer your usual stop at the right time), the hotel or home you keep for “Back to” in Plan, your chosen language, the width of the side panel and the last position the map centred on (so it can open there next time) are stored in this browser and never leave it. There is no account, and CyBus has no way to identify you.
Map data
Loading the map requests tiles from OpenFreeMap, and from MapTiler for the Satellite basemap when you pick it; if neither answers, a simpler map comes from OpenStreetMap’s own tile server. Searching for a place by name in the journey planner sends that search term to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service. None of these requests carries your location or any identifier from CyBus.
Analytics
CyBus uses Google Analytics to count visits and to see which parts of the site and the app are used and where they go wrong (for example whether the map loaded, or a search found nothing), so they can be improved. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to tell a returning browser from a new one; it does not tell CyBus who you are, and CyBus sends it nothing that would. It loads only after the page itself, so it never slows the map down.
When the app opens, and when something in it goes wrong, the browser also sends the CyBus server a short note: what happened, the kind of browser and screen, and the country of the network. It carries no location and no identifier, sets no cookie, and is kept only in the server’s own log.
Did the bus come?
After a bus you set the bell on was due, CyBus may ask whether it came. If you answer, the answer is kept on the CyBus server with the stop, the line and the time the bus was due, so we can tell how reliable each line is. It carries no location and nothing that identifies you or your phone.
Partner requests
If you send the form on the partners page, your name, email address and company are emailed to CyBus and kept on the CyBus server, so that we can reply. They are used for nothing else, never shared, and deleted when you ask.
CyBus is an independent project and not an official government app. Check operator notices before travel that matters.
